Let’s get you
back on cue.

Answers for the moments when your rota needs a second look.

Scanning and reviewing

How do I get the clearest scan?

Use a sharp, evenly lit photo or the original screenshot or PDF. Include the date headings, your staff row and the shift key. For a printed rota, keep the page flat and avoid glare. You can also try the fictional examples included in the app.

A time is missing or doesn’t look right.

Compare it with the original, then edit the date and times before confirming. Shift codes vary between workplaces, so include the key where possible. Exclude entries where you aren’t working. Check every included entry before saving.

How do I check a night shift?

Check its start date and both times, then make sure “Ends next day” matches the original rota. The weekly view shows the finishing day so an overnight shift is easier to spot.

My rota has changed. What now?

Scan the updated version and review its comparison with your saved rota. Choose which changes to apply. You can also edit a saved shift manually.

Reminders and wake-up alarms

What’s the difference?

A reminder is a notification before your shift. A wake-up alarm is a separate system alarm. You can choose either or both, with different times before the shift starts. RotaCue alarms are managed in RotaCue rather than the Clock app.

How do I know an alert is set?

Enable it in the shift editor, save the shift and grant access when asked. Check the saved status on your rota. If the app says access is needed, open RotaCue Settings and follow the permission controls. Notification reminders can be silenced or delayed by Focus and notification settings.

Can I test an alarm before relying on it?

Yes. Add a fictional shift with an alarm a few minutes in the future, save it and check the alarm status. Lock your phone and let it fire. Delete the test shift afterwards.

Settings and your data

What happens if I change my timezone?

The default timezone in Settings applies to new shifts and scans. Existing shifts keep their own timezone. Check the timezone in the shift details when you travel or enter work in another region.

Do I need an account?

No. RotaCue processes your rota on your device and stores your saved shifts locally. Read the privacy notice for more about storage and device services.

Still need a hand?

During the private beta, open RotaCue in TestFlight and use “Send Beta Feedback”. Include what happened, what you expected, your app version and the steps to reproduce it.

Please use fictional examples. Don’t include patient information, staff details or confidential workplace rotas in your feedback.
